Festival News : Sigur Ros confirmed for Bestival. EP maybe?

Icelandic note nuzzlers Sigur Ros have been confirmed as a headliner for Bestival.

The Isle of Wight festival, who also confirmed The XX, Spiritualized, Hot Chip and dozens of other acts earlier today, takes place over the weekend spanning September 6th-9th.

As the festival falls so close to the weekend that hosts Stradbally’s Electric Picnic shindig (just the weekend after), it is likely that many of those acts will also appear in a field in Laois come August 31st-Sept 2nd.

Having already appeared (and wowed) before, Jonsi and co. know exactly what EP is all about and as far as Hot Chip go it is probably better to announce when they are not playing seeing as they have appeared at least four times at this stage by my count. The XX appear high on the English festival’s list but unlikely they could headline a stage in Ireland I would say but still are a good shout for an appearance. I suppose we simply won’t know for sure until March when the initial EP line-up is confirmed.
