Jamboree of amazingness for Olympia and Vicar Street
Ghost on Ghost by Iron & Wine |
I nearly choked on my cereal this morning…
…when an early morning email arrived to inform me that not only one, but TWO of my favourite people of all time would be dropping into our fair capital for a bit of a song during the Summer. First up is Sam Beam aka Iron & Wine who takes to the Olympia Theatre with full band – truly a sight to behold – on 29th May. Ghost On Ghost is the Myrtle Beach native’s fifth Iron & Wine studio album and will see the man from South Carolina embark on an extensive European tour. Take a listen to new tune ‘Grace for Saints and Ramblers’ below.

Merely days later sees the last outlaw of country, Steve Earle, drag his Dukes and Duchesses to Vicar Street for a show on 1st June. The Low Highway – the first Earle record to be released under the title of & The Dukes since the eighties – is out in April and will feature Allison Moorer (Earle’s wife), Chris Masterson, Eleanor Whitmore, Kelley Looney and Will Rigby i.e. The Dukes & Duchesses.

UPDATE:
Before I even have time to complete the post I spot that Perth psych-rock quintet Tame Impala will also be dropping into the Olympia this Summer with a show confirmed for August 21st.
