Festival News: Southern Gothic
Cork’s dark and rootsy May bank holiday shindig is back for another year…
Southern Gothic returns to Cork, saddled with another bunch of ragamuffins and scoundrels braced to transform Phoenix Street (and a couple of others this year) into a makeshift swamp, oozing in grimy alternative goodness for another May bank holiday weekend. This year’s festival will be officially launched in The Crane Lane Theatre later this evening with what is surely set to be a frenetic performance by electro-freejazz trio K-X-P. The Finnish threesome return to the scene of last year’s crime where they slayed all in attendance at the 2012 edition of the annual get-together, this time charged with champagne bottle-cracking/curtain-raising duties.
