Festival news: Hard Working Class Heroes 2013

Only a month to go…
A little late on this one but for those who are yet to see the 2013 line-up for Hard Working Class Heroes can do so below. From a Cork perspective, it’s great to see strong representation of the red county in the talented shapes of The Altered Hours (shocking to think they didn’t appear in 2012), Carried By Waves, Cove, Dott (just before ye Galwegians pipe up singer Anna McCarhy’s from Schull!), Elastic Sleep (one of the country’s best new bands), REID, The Hard Ground and The Vincent(s).
Other stand-outs include little xs for eyes (who are currently guest-blogging away for this site), retro popstresses September Girls, Cave Ghosts, Biggles Flys Again (who featured at the last G-Man Presents showcase in May) and Maud In Cahoots who may yet be set to commandeer the airwaves with their catchy perk-pop. Last but not least, it’s always nice to see my hometown of Wexford contribute a couple of songwriters with Frankenstein Bolts* and Niall Colfer+ set to play the capital in October.
*(Un)Interesting fact 1: songwriter Justin Cullen’s dad Phil recorded a dodgy demo I did with a pal way back when. Wide-eyed teenagers who thought they were going to rule the world. Good times 🙂
+(Un)Interesting 2: Niall Colfer’s uncle (or possibly dad) taught me in school and once saved my uncle’s life.
