The G-Man & Triskel Present…Angel Olsen
Guess who’s coming back to Cork…
There’s excitement and there’s the sensation causing my very being to quiver as I shakily type these words. Having fallen for Angel Olsen following her illuminating Half Moon performance last May, Cork welcomes the Missouri songwriter and band back to Leeside for a very special evening in one of the city’s most magical locations: Triskel Christchurch. A limited run of early bird tickets go on sale this Wednesday, 19th February at 9am. Angel will also play Whelan’s on Friday, 6th June 2014.
Here’s what folks are saying about Olsen’s second record, Burn Your Fire For No Witness, now available to buy from Plugd Records and all other good record stores:
Her rickety coo is more flawless than ever, her songwriting defiantly more eclectic “
loudandquiet.com
“The seductive harshness of Karen Dalton, the infectious langour of Mazzy Star, the clipped, sardonic intensity of the first two Cate LeBon albums…”
MOJO
“Like Cohen, Olsen’s most striking talent is her ability to make rough, earthy-sounding music that touches metaphysical realms.”
Pitchfork
“I wonder if you’ll hear a more urgent and wonderful record this year”
Monocle (On Record review)
“That’s where the light gets into Olsen’s work:
beyond her gorgeous guitar, whether sawdust punk, reverb-laden slow dance
or near-silent reverie, it’s in the way she’s been steeled by sorry, a process of
galvanising that never ends.”
