Festival news: Electric Picnic

First peak inside the Picnic basket…

Electric Picnic fans were made to not only wait on but sweat over the existence of their beloved boutique festival last year due to various boring legalities. This year the EP organisers are hot out of the traps announcing Beck, Portishead, Outkast, Foals, Chic, St. Vincent and more. I’m particularly delighted with the announcement of Beck who I tipped during my little Tuesday guest spot on Cork’s RedFM

Last year’s event saw Björk, Robert Plant, My Bloody Valentine, Arctic Monkeys, David Byrne & St Vincent and Wu-Tang Clan all take to the field with this year’s line-up taking a large step towards mainstream, EP obviously stepping in to the gaping, Oxegen-shaped hole in the Summer calendar with the chart-friendly likes of Paolo Nutini, Lily Allen and Outkast also announced for August. Stephen Malkmus and Slowdive are there too though. Which is nice.
