Cork Gig Guide: 21st-27th March
Clang Sayne – Gulpd (Sunday) |
Wexford songwriter Laura Hyland brings her alt-folk clan Clang Sayne to Cork as part of their Irish tour to celebrate the official launch of new album The Round Soul of the World. Curse You Mocking Moon (think folk music carved out of the wind), the record’s first single, premiered on www.thegmanworld.com last week and should receive an outing when the foursome – featuring celebrated Cork saxophonist Carolyn Goodwin on bass clarinet – play Gulpd Cafe on Sunday.
Elsewhere it continues to be about the launches as the 3 Will Tour visits Cobh (Sirius, Wednesday) and Ballydehob (Levis’, Friday) – see the latest edition of Totally Cork magazine for an article I wrote following a chat with the 3 Will trio of Paul Creane, Paula Cox and The Man Whom; soul seven-piece Shookrah set new EP Clichés forth into the world with a Leap party in Connolly’s on Friday; Marlene Enright‘s début solo record hits shelves Friday also with a Ballincollig launch bash on Friday night also in The White Horse (see Walk This Way special with Marlene here.)
