Weekly Purchases

So I am still hanging on to the old school tradition of purchasing my music from those “out-of-date” music shops.

Fuck it I love the ritual of snooping through the A-Zs, weighing up the pros and cons of purchasing a back catalogue album of a beloved artist or taking the plunge and risking my cash on an unknown quantity. In fairness I usually go for option C, buying both and worrying about how I will pay for dinner later on down the line.

This weeks purchases were :

The Bad Plus – Prog

Lucky enough to have seen these lads twice this year. They reel you in by playing mental zazz rendtions of old classics but it is on their originals that they excel. Check out “Giant”.

Mumford & Sons – Sigh No More

Missed these boys at the End of the Road festival in September but stumbled across them in the accompanying program (which I am currently using as a sort of new music bible). If you like The Low Anthem and/or possibly Fleet Foxes then I would say you would like this.

Deerhunter – Microcastle

Ripped to my mp3 player but still playing third fiddle to the above. Will get back to ye….
