3 Artist Recommendations for Bandcamp Friday
Following Bandcamp’s announcement that they would continue Bandcamp Fridays in support of artists, consider three personal recommendations ahead of 2nd April.
Brídín
The low trees feature star of March 2021 is top of the recommendation list for 2nd April. Sligo’s Brídín released her first EP, Ocean of Stars, and recounted fond memories of favourite gigs past in early spring. Fee-free Friday provides the perfect excuse to take a chance on her first release.
The Mastersons
Eleanor Whitmore and Chris Masterson first sprang to my attention as support for Steve Earle when he played Wexford’s Spiegeltent series in late 2015. Also forming part of The Dukes, Earle’s band, the husband and wife duo from Brooklyn duo dance the fine line between alternative folk and country. Having waited patiently to catch them live again and pick up a CD person, a digital copy of Birds Fly South has found itself sitting pretty at the top of the cart as part of April’s Bandcamp Friday party.
Marnie Stern
