Cork Film Festival 2020 programme unveiled
The 65th Cork Film Festival announce blended 2020 edition including Nomadland, Soul & more.
Cork Film Festival 2020 will be going ahead. Personally this is great news as it’s the first year I remembered to book some time off in advance! This year’s movie meet-up is a “blended 12 day physical-virtual event 4-15 November, featuring sought-after Irish and world premieres in addition to six show-stopping Galas, an extensive shorts programme, and special events.” Launching the festival is Nomadland, the Frances McDormand-fronted feature from Chloé Zhao, who directed the wonderful The Rider (2017).
Other highlights include an odd couple tragi-comedy from Andrew Cohn (The Last Shift), a Pixar premiere pondering the purpose of existence (Soul), a support rider’s retelling of the time the Le Tour De France came to Ireland (The Racer) and a classic screening of Sally Field‘s Academy Award-winning union worker performance (Norma Rae).
