Cork Gig Guide: 14th-20th March
Oh Boland – Gulpd, Sunday |
Self-described “scum poppers from Tuam” Oh Boland are currently in the midst of an Irish tour which brings the trio, who toured this rock-lovin’ island with Parquet Courts not so long ago, to Gulpd Cafe on Sunday evening. Cork punks Land Crabs support.
Saturday night picks are for the folkies with the latest trad supergroup set to play Live at St. Luke’s. Featuring Donal Lunny, Mike McGoldrick, Andy Irvine, Paddy Glackin & John Doyle, Usher’s Island take to the St. Luke’s altar early on Saturday night leaving plenty of time for the expected post-gig drinks in Henchy’s. If the good weather is inspiring roadtrips then look no further than a solo outing from Rats frontman John Blek who sings some alt-country tunes harbour-side in Cobh’s Sirius Arts Centre.
