Documentary: Breaking Out
Michael McCormack’s Fergus O’Farrell doc deserves to be seen…
Thursday night saw multiple generations of musicians come together to celebrate the life and songs of Interference singer Fergus O’Farrell who sadly passed away in 2016. A packed Cork Opera house saw Glen Hansard, Camilla Griehsel, Liam O’Maonlai, Mundy, LOWmountain, Joe O’Leary (Fred), friends and West Cork neighbours team up with the rest of Interference to share renditions of Gold, American Townland, Sail On and more.
The second half of the concert included a preview (view here) to director Michael McCormack’s over ten years in the making documentary, Breaking Out. As ever, film-making is extraordinarily expensive so an indiegogo crowd-fund project went live last night with multiple options available now. Breaking Out deserves to be funded, deserves to be completed and you and generations to come deserve to be able to see it.
