Festival: Quarter Countdown
Women’s Christmas (Saturday) |
2 days to go…
‘Tis Tuesday and the clock is ticking. Southern Hospitality Board‘s Aisling O’Riordan introduces folks on their way down south to another couple of “must sees” at the upcoming: Quarter Block Party.
Who?: Women’s Christmas
Where?: The Black Dog Saloon & Mezcalaria (BDSM)
When?: Saturday – 11pm
Why?: “Women’s Christmas brought out an amazing album last year on Out on a Limb Records called Too Rich for Our Blood which I’ve been digging for a while. I’m very excited to see their show again and I think BDSM is a great venue for this kind of show! “
Who?: Banter
Where?: Cork Vision Centre
When?: Saturday – 3-5pm
Why?: “I’m a big fan of the Jim Carroll Banter series and delighted to have him do a banter talk at the festival. There is an amazing line up of panelists and interviewees for the stunning venue of The Vision Centre at St. Peter’s on the Saturday. The first session – Inside the Miracle of Sound – will see Jim speaking to Cork musician Gavin Dunne about getting his start in the business, using social media to create a buzz and what happens when the big boys come calling.
The second Banter session – Alternative Economies – is it possible to make a living from doing something you love? – sees some folks who’ve found a way to make alternative economics work give their thoughts on going it alone. The panel includes James Byrne (Any Other City, Villagers), Eat My Noise, Aoife Potter-Cogan (ArtLink) and Siobhán Kane (Young Hearts Run Free).”
