This week in Cork: Peter Broderick, Caoimhín Ó’Raghallaigh, Girl Band, Indie Cork 2014 and more..
Portland multi-instrumentalist, long-term Efterklang associate and all-round nice guy Peter Broderick’s one night stand in one of Cork’s best but unfortunately under-used venues, The Half Moon Theatre (19th) is the stand-out show this week. A new EP is on the way but before then, make friends with his 2008 heart-warmer Home.
Elsewhere this weekend, Dublin trad deity Caoimhín Ó’Raghallaigh brings his one man fiddle & film show In My Mind to Triskel Christchurch Saturday evening, the same complex hosting formidable Dublin foursome Girl Band’s first date in the Triskel TDC on that very same night. Check out an interview with Girl Band as published in a September edition of Cork’s Evening Echo here. The music programme for this year’s Indie Film Festival is none too shabby neither: Hilary Woods, Woven Skull, The Shaker Hymn, Women’s Christmas. See here for the full rundown.
