Weekly Cork Gig Guide: 19th August – 2nd September
This week in Cork: Jeffrey Lewis & The Jrams, Nothing New Under The Sun and more..
New York comic king and anti-folk philanthropist Jeffrey Lewis brings The Jrams on the 24th, with everyone’s favourite Manhattan motormouth making an afternoon stop-off at The Crane Lane Theatre as part of his latest Irish tour, this time promoting his latest record Jeffrey Lewis & The Jrams. A majestic manipulator of the mundane to magnificent effect, Lewis’ shows tend to touch upon several mediums including narrated tours through his recent illustrations. Hopefully the latest installment in Sonnet Youth – a poetic ode to Sonic Youth – will be unveiled on the night. Estranged The Specials keys man Jerry Dammers fulfils DJ duties that same evening.*
On the previous evening make sure to make the trip for Cork alt-country kings (and queen) John Blek & The Rats who top the bill for the return of The Sullane Sessions to Macroom’s Briery Gap Theatre.
