MDR Sullane Sessions
Great news for The Gap…
Having celebrated a year in business just weeks ago, Cork label MDR Recordings have announced details of an enthralling monthly session to take place just outside of Cork city. Based in Macroom’s Briery Gap Theatre, the Sullane Sessions aims to host a “series of intimate gigs highlighting the best in national and international singer songwriters”. Launch date is Saturday 24th May with slowcore siren (and blog favourite) Katie Kim teaming up with American songwriter Joan Shelley for opening night.
For those new to Shelley then there is no better place to start than with her new 7″, a collaboration with King’s Daughters & Sons‘ member Joe Manning, the latter forming one fifth of one of my favourite bands of the past five years and who, judging by ‘Outside, Stay Outside’, has led his fellow Kentuckian to wade in darker, murkier waters. Listen to the track here and hear for yourself.
Upcoming Sullane Sessions:
- Saturday, 24th May – Joan Shelley & Katie Kim
- Friday, 13th June – Oliver Cole & The Shaker Hymn
- Friday, 25th July – Daniel Martin Moore & Jackson Dyer and Ghost Town Jenny
- Saturday, 23rd August – John Blek & The Rats & special guest
