This week in Cork: Kurt Vile, Yawning Chasm, The Lost Brothers, The Space Lady and more..
Cosmic folk cowboy Kurt Vile spins into Carey’s Lane tomorrow evening for a solo show which seemed to take forever to come around. Fifth studio long player Wakin’ On A Pretty Haze turned up grinning at #3 on this year’s Top 50 list so it’s a real treat to have a chance to see the Philly man in The Pavilion on Wednesday night. If 2011’s EOTR spectacle was anything to go by, expect very dirty acoustic guitar.
Highlights are a dime-a-dozen this week with some excellent shows, big and small planned between now and Monday night on Leeside. Those not digging the king of the Violators’ vibe should mosey on in to Cyprus Avenue for some rowdy americana courtesy of Chicago/Montreal’s Birds of Chicago, also on Wednesday evening. (moved to May 9th).
It’s more about the beats on the following night with Adultrock dropping into The Pavilion Bar for the always rocking, always fun Floating Joints IX.
London pop punks Palma violets visit Cyprus Avenue to launch the weekend with an enthusiastic bang while the onus is on homegrown rock on Barrack Street with both Terriers and Guilty Optics teaming up to take on Mr. Bradley’s.
Those fine Fractured Air fellas have cooked up something special for Saturday in the TDC with the Carry brothers hosting the Cork leg of The Space Lady‘s first ever European tour. For all the details, simply click here. Check in later in the week for a track-by-track with Susan Dietrich herself. Saturday’s a bit silly for the number of good gigs a-happenin’ about town as harmony heads The Lost Brothers return to Coughlan’s and Galwegian rural rockers Oh Boland play The Crane Lane Theatre.
To top it all off Cork Community Print Shop return for Second Sundays with the latest afternoon adventure including a set by the incredible Yawning Chasm who last visited Leeside for only the third ever The G-Man Presents… session. GO.
