New music: Fatima
Phat Fatima…
My no longer “in” urban slang aside, the collection of demos recently made available by Fatima is as enthralling as it is eclectic. From soundscapes and audio art to disco beats and respectful Joanna Newsom covers, the Cork-based world goths have arisen from the now sadly defunct ashes of Saint Yorda with impressive results. Just you try and not sway dreamily to ‘Hold’.
With little known about the group (although it’s as easy to distinguish Paul O’Reilly’s baritone as it is his Japanese-inspired artwork) it may be a case that there are no long term plans for Fatima. Here’s hoping otherwise.
