We Play Here, There and Everywhere…
It’s goodbye long time no fanzine this weekend as We Play Here, a document of Cork’s past and present alternative landscape, is officially unveiled. The brainchild of The Point Of Everything‘s Eoghan O’Sullivan, will mix up new and old(er) with interviews and discussions featuring Cork-based bands such as Hope Is Noise, Ten Past Seven and The Altered Hours. For the full lo-down it’s best you click here. Gig wise there is something for everyone with an all-ages event featuring The Shaker Hymn, Lost in Mexico and more in The Kino Saturday afternoon with a slightly rowdier affair planned for Bradley’s of Barrack Street later that evening. Jazz-progsters The Great Balloon Race will be bopping about that one. For those who can’t make it but would like a copy of the limited edition print, We Play Here may be pre-ordered over on weplayhere.bigcartel.com.
The stand-out midweek show sees underground Cleveland legends Pere Ubu visit The Pavilion on Carey’s Lane. The avant-garage rockers will be joined by former Trumpets of Jericho (who sadly disbanded earlier in the year) frontman Tom Healy who will fulfil crowd-warming duties on Wednesday evening. Not to be missed.
