Big names revealed for the jazz…
Purists will argue that the use of the “j” word when referring to Cork’s annual music meet-up is laughable these days but, whatever genre the music, the October bank holiday brings big names to Cork for four days of festival fun. Last week saw Nile Rodgers & Chic confirmed for Cork Opera House with Danish denizens Efterklang announced previously. There may be a lack of movement over on the official website as of yet, but shiny new jazz e-zine www.marlbank.net recently unveiled a whole host of further big names for this October, including a couple of folks who play actual jazz! London sax legend Courtney Pine, big apple celebrators of all things Mingus The Mingus Big Band, Brooklyn rapper Mos Def, Bobby Gillespie’s tireless rockers Primal Scream and plenty more will all be boppin’ about Leeside come the last weekend in October. The first big official announcement is expected from the festival’s organiser in mid-August.
