There’s nothing like starting a good gigging week with something special. Plugd Records and fellow bloggers Fractured Air obviously agree as they combine forces to welcome Thrill Jockey Chicagoans Mountains later this evening. For a five day week in a small-ish city, it’s amazing how much is going on this week with that heart-scraper of a word (“clash”) interfering with every best laid plan imaginable. Folkies appetites are catered for in abundance this week as Rachel Sermanni (Thursday) and The Lost Brothers (Saturday) both visit Leeside on Thursday evening, Cyprus Avenue and Coughlan’s providing the respective venues.
Saturday is where it all really gets frenetic as guerrilla psychsters The Altered Hours officially launch super shoe-gaze 10″ Sweet Jelly Roll in The Pavilion, Tupelo troubadour John Murry trots into The Crane Lane Theatre, Alliance Promotions continue their long run of gigs in the Triskel Arts Centre TDC and scream-poppers Fight Like Apes get physical in Cyprus Avenue.
