Cork Gig Guide (27th May – 4th June)

Hypnotic Brass Ensemble
Bee Mask
Public Service Broadcasting
Bank Holiday beats and blips a-plenty…

The long weekend beckons with an eclectic mix of live music on offer over the next 9 days or so. Midweek belongs to Chris Madak who dons his Bee Mask for an evening of electronic experimentation in Gulpd Café. Cork soundscapist Elll – who impressed in the same building on record store day – will also provide tones and atmospherics on Wednesday evening.

It’s all about information, education and entertainment on Thursday as the corduroy-clad triumph that is J. Willgoose, Esquire and his partner in crime Wrigglesworth‘s Public Service Broadcasting machine plugs into Cyprus Avenue. Inform – Educatate – Entertain is the duo’s first full-length and diligently combines audio broadcast samples with instrumental rock so will be fascinating to see how it all translates live. For a chance to win a pair of tickets click here.

And it being a bank holiday weekend and all, it’s almost tradition at this stage that Chicago brass brothers Hypnotic Brass Ensemble take to The Pavilion stage. For those yet to catch the frenetic octet live, this one’s a must-see on Sunday on Carey’s Lane. If it hasn’t sold-out already that is.
