Once again Tobin Street is the place to be this week as Seti The First make their bow within the hallowed halls of the incomparable Triskel Christchurch.
Kevin Murphy and Thomas Haugh have been beating off positive reviews for astounding debut album Melting Cavalry left, right and centre so it will be fascinating to experience the incredible likes of ‘La Bassinette Noir’ and ‘The Defenestration Of Yan Masaryk’ in a live setting.

Cork Opera House kick-start the week with a flamenco flourish, welcoming guitarist, composer and dramatist Paco Pena to Emmett Place for an intriguing night billed as a “unification of Spanish and African music and dance in Quimeras, a celebration of immigration and shared cultures.” Sounds colourful to say the least.
Another midweek highlight sees Wexford songwriter Joey Ryan undressing his debut album Morning Will Come Soon on The Pavilion stage with help from a couple of close friends. This one starts early due to midweek music license sadness so plan to be there for nine. For those wide-eyed and busy-tailed there is plenty of time to make a run for the The Crane Lane to catch Missouri’s Ha Ha Tonka who will be bringing the bluegrass like a bull bent on brawny destruction.
It’s back to Carey’s Lane again on Saturday night for a free show from two of Cork’s finest and brightest as prog pimpernels Lamp and G-Man favourites The Great Balloon Race join forces to woo and wail in The Pavilion from 9.
This free show will have to vie for attention with the return of nineties grunge rockers Kerbdog who return to Cyprus Avenue – and Cork – for the first time in nearly a decade.
Finally, Sunday sees the 2012 edition of the Cork Film Festival roll her reels. Visit www.corkfilmfest.org for further details on another diligently designed programme.
