New music: Pure Bathing Culture
Pure Bathing Culture |
I have been dallying quite a lot in the world of dreampop these days (Echo Lake tip the top of my personal playlists regularly) so it’s no surprise that the wolf ears piqued on the first listen of Pure Bathing Culture‘s ethereally folky ‘Ivory Coast’.
Contrary to traditional movements, the Portland duo Sarah Versprille and Daniel Hindman abandoned the hipster haven that is Brooklyn to set up camp further west in Portland. Odd but effective with indie label Secretly Canadian‘s Richard Swift (who recently toured as part of the revamped live (The) Shins machine) capitalising on the chance to record with Versprille and Hindman who also comprise two fifth’s of Bella Union Vetiver. The result is a four track, self-titled EP that twinkles like a diamond ground from the stardust spilled following a collision between a Mojave 3 meteor and a Mazzy Star skyrock.
