Southern Gothic 2012: Artist Rundown Part I

Southern Gothic returns to The Crane Lane Theatre for another year this weekend as a dozen incredible international artists descend upon Phoenix Street. See below for a short note on who’s who of the 2012 line-up for Southern Gothic.

Why?: Because shoegaze sheriffs Nick Benton and Lucy Wilson – aka Carousels – are going to shoot the whole shebang off in fuzzy, distorted style.

K-X-P

Who?: K-X-P
When?: Friday – 8pm
How much?: FREE!
Why?: “K-X-P mixes electronics, kraut, noise, rock and even rockabilly into a hypnotic and minimalistic motorik groove”. This Finnish trio are going to do delightfully nasty things to the Crane Lane’s theatre walls.

Hanin Elias

Why?: Returning from over half a decade of self-imposed exile in French Polynesia, the original riot grrrl and founding member of Atari Teenage Riot‘s batteries are recharged and revitalised, a fact so strikingly evident on last year’s long-awaited release Get it Back.
