Why?: Another outstanding addition to the cracker in Kilmainham that are set to release a new record with sixth studio album WIXIW released on the very day that the experimental rock trio take to the Undergrowth Stage. Fortunate to catch them at Primavera 2009 and was mightily impressed – although some would say a combination of Spanish-sized shots and burning sun meant I was emotionally touched by most goings on that week.

Why?: Because they’re damn well good so they are! The Dublin trio rightfully earned riotous acclaim for their EPs (debut offering Insomnia Lodge followed by the more mature On The Trail Of The Disappearing) back in 2008 resulting in coveted opening slots for Micah P. Hinson and fellow forbidden fruitees Real Estate. Autumn Owls released their first new material (single track ‘Acrobatics of a Patchwork Heart’) ahead of the unveiling of their debut album which is expected later this year.
