Festival News : Heritage Music & Arts Day 2012
Ireland’s newest festival gulps in her first breath next month as Wexford’s Heritage, Music and Arts Day makes her inaugural bow.
Set in the historic surroundings of the Irish National Heritage Park, the one day event will feature intimate performances on four stages constructed on various historical sites; The Crannóg Island, The Ring Fort and The Stone Circle will provide the perfect backdrop for the homegrown musical talents of Mick Flannery, Declan O’Rourke, Duke Special, Cathy Davey and John Spillane amongst others with the main stage located at the Early Christian Settlement. The Saturday will also feature readings from world renowned authors such as John Banville, Billy Roche and Peter Murphy who will call on various literature from their own vast back catalogues as well as sets from local songwriter Alan Byrne and various musicians who have frequented the Red Chair sessions over the past few years.
