Cork Gig Guide (May 21st-27th)
Papa M |
Serial collaborator and multi-aliased Texan David Pajo visits Cork on Saturday under his Papa M guise arriving for an early show in The Crane Lane Theatre. Having worked with and contributed to the talented likes of Slint, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Tortoise, Pajo has forged a quality (and lengthy) discography himself under various different monikers such as Papa M, Aerial M and Pajo.
Local swamp-folk sentries Daphne In The Attic visit An Bróg on Wednesday while The Pavilion pays respect to recently lost legend Levon Helm on the following night.
Niamh Murphy‘s Foxglove and fellow Cork folk The Hard Ground team up on Friday night to officially launch Crazy At The Helm, the former’s debut EP in the hauntingly atmospheric surroundings of the Triskel Christchurch. This performance has been tailored specifically for the beautiful venue and will feature guest appearances from a host of superb musicians “and a grand piano to boot”!
Friday certainly is a night for local tent with Alan & The Accident in The Roundy and John Blek & The Rats playing Clon.
The Cork trend continues on Saturday with Wild Beasts-lovin’ indie kids Hush War Cry launching their own debut EP Voices in Cyprus Avenue, Fifa Records rockers Pavlov’s Dogs in The Pavilion and smile-inducing, fun foragers
