Capital Capers and Elsewhere Escapades May 9th-May 15th
Camden Crawl Dublin |
It is most certainly all about Camden Crawl Dublin this weekend as dozens of venues host hundreds of national and international bands looking to impress over the coming weekend. We Are Scientists, Jape, Mystery Jets are just three of the vast talent on show in what is the inaugural edition of its sister/mother counterpart across the pond. Check back later in the week for a venue by venue breakdown.
Before all those shenanigans shake up the capital there is quite a tasty gig guide to get through with soulful soloist Lianne La Havas in The Academy, Athens electro duo Keep Shelly in Athens heading a strong cast in Whelan’s, Swedish scribe Loney, Dear in The Grand Social not to mention that auld lad in The O2 all later this evening.
The Odessa Club sessions continue on Thursday with Large Mound and tradsters of the moment The Spook of the Thirteenth Lock the night before English experimental multi-instrumentalist Alexander Tucker and guitar virtuoso James Blackshaw‘s deadly double-header on Friday in Stephen’s Green’s Unitarian Church. That one is certainly not to be missed.
An incredible pairing on Saturday night sees frequent visitor Sam Amidon in Vicar Street as support for Martin Hayes‘ gathering of superfriends aka The Gloaming on the same night Southenders The Horrors rock The Academy.
A quiet start to next week is interrupted by Shaun Ryder and his fellow cohorts as Happy Mondays attempt to ransack the Olympia on both Monday and Tuesday.
