Like the saucy title? I hope as much as everyone in An Realt Dearg – I speak on their behalf – enjoyed the return of Private Underground Residence to the live music circuit with a fund-raising (and crowd-pleasing) gig on Barrack Street last night.
Unofficially an opener for the inaugural Days On End experimental sound festival which kicks off more formally later this evening (see the official site for details), “Macca”, Kevin and John showed no signs of rust as they hammered through tunes that will appear on the new album which we can expect “within a year”. ‘Snuffbox’, the threesome’s 2011 single, was always going to be a highlight and did not disappoint with the one-word chorus of “GRAVITY!” bulging out on to Barrack Street.

After a year-long hiatus (when it rains it pours as they say), the post-rock trio hit the road to Galway later today with a second show of 2012 in Citóg alongside garage prockers (pop and rock?) Superblondes who recently released their own eponymously titled EP.
If you missed PUR last night do not fret as you will soon get a chance to amend your ways when they appear in the Crane Lane with Poino and Hands Up Who Wants To Die on February 23rd.
– Private Underground Residence and Superblondes play Citóg in Galway tonight (Feb 10th)
– Doors are at 9.30pm and entry is free
