First Fortnight Festival opens January 4th
First Fortnight is an annual arts-based mental health awareness project that takes place over the first two weeks of the new calendar. 2012 sees the project return for the third year with two weeks jam-packed full of incredible music, art and discussions based around the issues and stigmaas surrounding mental health in Ireland.

The live music feast this year will be plentiful and tastier than ever with Cashier No 9, Le Galaxie, Tieranniesaur, VerseChorusVerse, Mark Geary, Royseven, We Cut Corners and many more performing mostly in The Workman’s Club (Jan 4th, 6th and 11th) with the festivities reaching boiling point in a finale to be held in the Button Factory on January 14th.
Other highlights include a screening of The Devil & Daniel Johnston in the IFI on Jan 7th, theatre in the form of One Man, Many Voices and 565+, visual art exhibits from Sinead McDonald as well as plenty of discussions and chat concerning relevant topics.
