Dalot’s Minutestatic
Maria Papadomanolaki – aka Dalot – is a Greek-born, New York-based sound artist who in 2011 released her second full length album – the exceptional Minutestatic.
Apparently “borne of late night improvisation”, Ms. Papadomanolaki’s gracefully-crafted collection of minimalist electronica at times delightfully veers into shoe-gaze territory when her delay-drenched guitar makes an appearance here and there – listen to ‘the blue car’ to understand what I mean.
A short tour of Europe in November/December confirms the beautiful sounds of Dalot are not merely confined to the bedroom and eyes will be peeled in for any 2012 announcements.
