Monsters of Folk

Despite numerous collaborations over the past few years between alterantive artists (springing to mind most recently is The Dirty Projectors/David Byrne on the Dark Was The Night compilation) itt has been a while since a “supergroup” of any note recorded something worthwhile.

Bearing this in mind up step Monsters of Folk to the plate.

Comprising of Jim James from My Morning Jacket, solo artist M. Ward and the Bright Eyes combination, Mike Mogis and Conor Oberst the eponymous album has just gone on release which was boosted in the States by a performance on the Conan O’Brien show which you can see below. Oddly enough on first listen I am not getting much of a folk vibe…
