Television nowadays is pretty painful and anything worth watching is usually best watched in boxset form yet there is still that odd gem or two left on our idiot boxes.

Later With Jools Holland is certainly one of these rare stones and has recently returned to our screens for the Autumn/Winter season. Now in series 35, episode 1 features performances from Muse, Lyle Lovett, Jimmy Cobb, Gossip and Florence & The Machine and Alela Diane, making theirLater… debuts.

After years of experience working in record/music stores it was always so exciting to see people flooding in on the Saturday asking for the album from “Oh I don’t know his/her name but she kinda sounded like…a little bit…reminded me sorta of…He/She was on Jools Holland last night. You know the one!”.

My ego always swelled with my “Of course I do.” reply.
